Besame Lip Balm

While I’m on this Besame kick, I thought I’d write a quick review of the Sweetheart Balm colors I have so far. I mentioned the Tangerine color in my recent post of beauty product recommendations, and I’ve since then also received the Sweet Rose color. Both appear in the photo below, with Sweet Rose on the left.

I was already in love with Tangerine, but I personally like Sweet Rose even better. The scent of Sweet Rose is more soft, subtle, and musky, whereas Tangerine is fruity and a bit more… I guess you could say invigorating. Like, it’s more intense and tangy, which I definitely do not dislike. On most days, however, I prefer the more subtle effect of the lighter color. I find I like the way Sweet Rose looks on my lips better, too, giving them a soft, pinkish shine, as opposed to the more vibrant dash of red produced by the other.

Both glosses can stand alone, or look amazing when paired with the right Besame matte lipstick. The other two Besame Sweetheart Balm flavors (which I totally want) are Cherry and Peach. Besame Sweetheart Balm is a great gift for yourself or anyone in your life who might like a lovely little addition to her boudoir vanity. It’s a high-quality balm that I wear nearly every day, and even to bed many nights.

I hope you found this review helpful!

Besame: 1920s Deco Collection

I adore Besame lipstick, as you can see from my previous Besame lipstick review. I hope to write many more reviews in the future, because that would mean that I somehow got my makeup-greedy little hands on more of their products. On the official Besame website, there are currently two special “sets” for sale. One is theĀ 1920s Deco Collection, which this entry will be a review of, and the other is the Kenley Collins Scarf and Lipstick Set, which I plan to review in the near future.

Below is the little advertisement flier for the 1920s Deco set. Their marketing is just brilliant. How could this not appeal to every woman in the world interested in vintage and retro glamor?

The 1920s Deco Collection includes the Besame “Noir Red Lipstick” and the Besame “Black Liquorice Lip Glaze.” The packaging is gorgeous, as you can see in the photos below.

The lipstick color seems fairly darker on my lips than it looks in the Besame flier I posted above. It still looks good, in my opinion, but I’d wear it only on those days I feel I want to look kind of dramatic in a moody sort of way. I am now in my 30s, and I can imagine flipping head over heels for this lipstick set when I was a goth girl in my late teens and early twenties. Still, I find the color wearable, and even quite attractive, for certain days and events.

I really like the liquorice fragrance of the gloss. If you like black liquorice, you might love the way this gloss smells, and how it tastes on your lips. I think it looks good on top of the lipstick it comes with, but also can stand by itself on an otherwise naked mouth.

Besame lipstick and gloss are always good quality, and I would recommend this set to anyone who likes really dark red lipstick and a vintage vibe.

In appreciation of your viewer-ship,

Lipstick Review – MAC “Archie’s Girls” Daddy’s Little Girl Veronica

MAC Archie’s Girls Daddy’s Little Girl Veronica Lipstick

This is an interesting color. It just falls short of being bright, but it teeters right on that edge. Kind of a rose-mauve shade. I have to be honest- -I’m not in love with how this color looks on me. It’s not bad, but not quite right. I think you really have to have the right complexion to pull this one off well, and I’m not quite sure what that complexion is.

The color definitely draws attention to the mouth; it’s a youthful, fun color for maybe a girls night out. And I do love the “Archie’s Girls” theme. MAC comes out with the cutest limited edition makeup products, and a lot of the time I want their lipsticks for the theme alone.
