Givenchy Lipstick Review

I love Givenchy lipstick, but I do not like the cases. Okay that’s my review, thanks for reading.

Haha, no. But that does pretty much sum it up. The lipstick is amazing. It is a really silky texture that glides on beautifully. The colors are rich in pigment, and I find the range of colors offered very aesthetically pleasing. Givenchy lipstick is high-quality, luxury lipstick.

But the cases annoy me. They hardly fit in my lipstick organizers, although almost every other lipstick brand does. I guess they thought it was a cute idea to have the little pully string, but I find it awkward. It’s unconventional in a way that isn’t at all practical, as far as I am concerned.

Illicit Raspberry and Rouge Interdit are two of my all-time favorite lipstick colors. The former is a delicious berry shade, and the latter is a bright hot red. I would carry them with me a lot more often if I didn’t totally dislike the cumbersome cases, that for whatever reason, Givenchy thinks are better than more conventional cases. Remotely cute, but mostly impractical, Givenchy. Your gorgeous, quality lipsticks deserve better.

Guerlain Lipstick Review

Hello there, lipstick fans!

Well Exces De Rouge from the KissKiss series by Guerlain is my number one favorite lipstick, and it’s been that way for the past couple years. I haven’t found a lipstick I like better. The color, the texture, the smell… all of it is just divine. I also adore Folie De Grenat (also KissKiss) and Greta (Rouge G De Guerlain). Gorgeous cases, too, right?

In comparison to the amazing Guerlain lipsticks mentioned above, Cuivre Drape is a disappointment. The shimmery brown color is alright (I’m like, “whatever”), but the consistency is more liquidy than the others, and it just goes on weird. The case for that one is silver instead of gold like the other KissKiss lipsticks, so maybe that has something to do with it.

From left to right we have four tubes from the Guerlain KissKiss series: Cuivre Drape, Exces De Rouge (x2), and Folie De Grenat. Then in the foreground there appears Greta, from the Rouge G de Guerlain series.

OCC Lip Tar Review

First I’d like to say that I *am* a fan of Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar. But in order to like this stuff, you have to be the type of make-up person who likes to play. It isn’t the most practical lip color choice, because you have to have some kind of application set-up or plan.

The tubes I have do not come with an attached applicator, so I end up squeezing a bit of the liquid formula onto a piece of plastic or a piece of paper, and then I dip a lipstick brush into the formula in order to apply. The formula is not thick or super watery, but somewhere in between, and it gradually dries on the lips.

From left to right: Feather, NSFW, Rx, Belladonna, Hoochie, Strumpet, Demure, and Pretty Boy.

My personal favorite is Strumpet; it’s a really pretty magenta color.

Some of the best things about OCC Lip Tar:

1. How well it stays on once it dries. It’s not going to rub off on things (coffee cup, cigarette, boyfriend) like some other lip colors would.

2. It looks great with some gloss.

3. There is a super wide variety of fun and funky colors to choose from.

4. All OCC products are completely vegan.

5. It’s great fun to mix and blend.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy lip-painting!
